Xunantunich Ruins and Belize Cave Tubing

Depart Placencia after checkout and transfer to the Xunantunich temple located in the Village of San Jose Succotz.

Enjoy exploring the plaza and climbing the temples, including the 130ft high El Castillo, for amazing views across the river valley.  Tshirt with shorts, capris or lightweight long long pants and comfortable walking shoes (no flip flops).  Bring along a cap, sunblock, bug repellent and your personal water bottle for refills come in handy.  The Cave Tubing adventure is next! But first, we will take a break for a delicious local lunch.

Once we are at Nohoch Che’en Reserve, we’ll start our cave tubing adventure.  Participants can either be wearing swimsuits under clothing or change at the park.  Your footwear (and the rest of you) will get wet!  Flipflops are not allowed but any sandal that can strap unto your feet are fine! Vendors at the park also have croc and water shoe rentals for about us$5 – $10 (cash only).  Grab your gear and head down the trail – first stop is crossing the river – then through the jungle to the starting point. You will float through cave and open river until you are back at where you first crossed the river.  Have your dry clothes handy for a quick change-off for a dry and comfortable ride (flips flops here and a plastic bag for your wet clothes are a good idea!).

Continue on your way to Belize City for check-in at the Biltmore Hotel.
