Cave Tubing and Xunantunich Ruins from San Pedro! Explore Mayan civilization at this unique Mayan ruins – then it’s cave tubing in Belize! 

Board your island transfer and head to the mainland via boat or air transfer. Your guide will be waiting for you with your name on a sign.  Travel time is approx 2 hours to the ferry crossing in Succotz Village.  Cross the Mopan River on the hand-cranked ferry then head up to the site which is perched at the top of the mountain.  Explore the plazas and residential buildings, towering temples, stelae and carvings while you delve into the culture, history, and religion of the ancient Maya.

Xunantunich Ruins, known also as the “Maiden of the Rock” is a Classic Period ceremonial center. The site features large plazas ringed with pyramids. The center comprises six major plazas highlighting the steep but short, 130ft climb to the top of “El Castillo”, the impressive main temple at Xunantunich Mayan ruins with stunning views from the top.

After a satisfying local lunch at the Nohoch Che’en Archaeological Reserve make your way to the river’s edge for the start of your cave tubing adventure!  Follow your guide across the river, through the jungle and into the depths of the river as its winds through the limestone caves. Explore the Mayan world of Xibalba with only the lights of your headlamp to lead the way!

Lunch and Return to San Pedro

Enjoy a well-earned local lunch of Belizean stewed chicken, rice and beans with a non-alchoholic local beverage. Today’s adventure has ended! Your guide will return you to the city within a comfortable timeframe to meet your return transfer to San Pedro.
