Private Tour: Xunantunich and Medicinal Trail

Your adventure begins with your departure from San Pedro. Your guide will be waiting at the terminal exit at the airstrip on your arrival in Belize City.  Board your van for the scenic drive (approx 2 hours) to the Village of San Hose Succotz.  You will cross the Mopan River on a hand-cranked ferry and continue on your way to the site itself.

Upon arrival, you’ll be struck by the stunning vista of this majestic ancient city. Guided by our knowledgeable staff, explore the site’s towering temples, intricate stone carvings, and sprawling ancient plazas. Learn about the Maya culture, history, and spirituality through fascinating stories and legendsof the ancient Maya.

A tour highlight is the ascent to the top of El Castillo, the main pyramid at Xunantunich. Standing as the second tallest structure in Belize, it offers panoramic views over the lush jungle and into Guatemala. Capture this breathtaking scenery and cherish these moments forever.

After your Xunantunich tour we’ll head up to the famous and award-winning resort at the Lodge of Chaa Creek.  The Maya were masters at utilizing the jungle’s natural resources for their practical and medicinal needs. On the trail, you will see and learn about vines that store drinking water, plants that helps abate malaria, aid diabetics, cleanse the blood, plus many more.  The trail’s most remarkable feature is that all the plants and trees were already there. The fact that none were planted is a testament to the natural diversity found in the rainforest.  Enjoy lunch at Chaa Creek by choosing from the menu – the cost of lunch is not included.
