Cave Tubing - Explore the cave system with just your inner tube Grab a tube and head off on the jungle trail to the cave entrance. Enter an exciting realm where rivers disappear into the underworld as you float on inner tubes with only your headlamp to lead the way. Glide past entrances from above, filtering mists of jungle light, as you float through underground river caves sparkling with mica-studded stalactites and stalagmites.

Chechem Hah - Maya pottery cave
Those who make the trip to Chechem Hah will not be disappointed. This interesting day's outing begins atop the Vaca Plateau in the Cayo District on a small subsistence farm belonging to the Moralez family, who discovered a cave on their property while hunting with their dogs. You can imagine their amazement when, upon later exploring the cave, they found over sixty intact Maya jars and other pottery that have remained undisturbed since the cave was abandoned around 900 A.D. The small, unimpressive opening of this cave divulges little of what lies beyond. As you step into the cool darkness, the cave opens up to reveal winding limestone passageways with tall, narrow rooms, and overhead ledges littered with pottery.

Barton Creek - Cave Canoeing
Barton Creek Cave was an ancient Maya Indian burial site, and is accessible only by canoe. Glide through a remote underground water cave system in a canoes equipped with a powerful spotlights. Stalactites and Stalagmites hang high overhead as you float past impressive calcite crystal formations, skeletal remains and other cultural artifacts left behind by the Maya centuries ago. The trip to the cave is very scenic and passes through the Barton Creek Mennonite community. You may get a glimpse of the Mennonites as they go about their daily routines. After the cave canoe trip, you will want to take a swim in the crystal clear Barton Creek.

Actun Tunichil Muknal (ATM) - A caving experience like no other
Actun Tunichil Muknal "Cave of the Stone Sepulcher" is one of the most impressive caves in the Maya Lowland. Located in the heart of the Belizean Rainforest, this cave was a sacred place to the prehistoric Maya of Belize, who first began to use the entrance during the early classic period. It was not until the late terminal classic period that the Maya traveled deeper into the Cave to conduct their ceremonies. The cave system consists of a series of chambers, ending in a large Cathedral where sacrificial ceremonies once took place. Here lie those individuals sacrificed to the gods of the underworld. Visitors to this cave have the opportunity to travel into the Maya past and witness a living museum where the human sacrifices and artifacts can be viewed in their original context. After an exciting drive, you will trek for 45 minutes through dense Jungle in the Tapir Mountain Nature Reserve and wade across three streams. At the entrance of the Cave you will be outfitted in the necessary equipment preparing you for the Caving Adventure ahead. Some swimming will be required and also climbing and Caving activity. This is a first class Caving and Archaeological experience.
