The country is loosely divided into different experiences, and each different area boasts a wealth of resorts and adventures to choose from.  To help you on your search for the perfect Belize Vacation, this section of our website gives a brief description of the areas and experiences.  

Each area offers many resorts…and choices range from luxury, to moderate, to budget.  We don't focus on just a few resorts, rather we work with all the resorts across Belize to help you find what you are looking for at the price you want.  If you would like suggestions on resorts,  just fill in your request in the comment box on our Reservations/Contact Form.

- - - - Islands & Atolls - - - -

IslandsSan Pedro San Pedro and Caye Caulker are the most popular islands and most socially active destinations, accessible by boat or municipal plane.  These islands offer hotels within a town setting within easy walking distance restaurants, bars, and gift shops.    Just minutes from the Barrier Reef t he s e are great locations to arrange a snorkeling, fishing or scuba diving tour.  Attractions include Hol Chan Marine reserve, Turneffe Atoll, Lighthouse Atoll. A trip to the mainland for jungle adventure tours for Maya Temples, Caves, Rivers and more is easily arranged.  San Pedro offers the largest selections of accommodations in the country.  Most of the hotels, restaurants and bars are located within town and to the south of town and are within easy walking or golf cart distance.  On the northern end of the islan d, resorts are far removed from the active town setting and this area is only accessible by water taxi.  Caye Caulker's motto “Go Slow” says it all!  A much more laid back setting and less developed offers mostly budget to moderate accommodations.  

Private Islands and Outer Atolls – South Water Caye, Tobacco Caye, and Cocoplum Caye are just a few of the remote islands available.  Night-life oSan Pedro Sunsetn these islands include starry skies and sounds of the Caribbean Sea.  These resorts cater to enthusiasts and specialize in particular experiences such as Scuba Diving, Fishing, Kayaking, or Golfing.  These islands are also ideal for those seeking a private escape.  Many of them are right on the reef for spectacular unspoiled experiences.  Access is usually by boat only. Turneffe Atoll and Glovers Atoll are truly remote and are only accessible by a boat ride across the blue.  These remote destinations are pristine and offer excellent scuba diving, fishing, kayaking and snorkeling.   Choose from luxury to the most basic of accommodations.  For serious enthusiasts only!

- - - - Western Belize - - - -

Cayo District – considered the center of adventure, resorts here range from right within town for the social traveler, to very remote settings which envelop you completely in a jungle experience.  There are a multitude of adventures to enjoy.  If you are in San Pedro, Caye Caulker, or Placencia  chances are your inland trip will be to the Cayo District for Xunantunich, Caracol, Cahal Pech, ATM Cave, Horseback Riding, River Kayak and more.  

Mountain Pine Ridge – this 100,000 acre reserve features a pine forest on a mountainous landscape.  Resorts here are mostly in the luxury category, however some moderate and budget hotels are also available.  The access road to the Pine Ridge is unpaved gravel and somewhat difficult to travel.  However the remoteness of the area and the unique attractions make this a favorable location for some travelers.  

- - - - Southern Belize - - - -Placencia Beach

Placencia & Hopkins – these coastal areas offer a unique mix of jungle and island experiences.  Resorts range from budget to moderate and a few more luxury resorts.  These areas are not as developed as San Pedro, although there are several restaurants, bars and gift shops available.  Keep in mind however that the reef sits several miles out and jungle excursions are usually full days including travel time. Whale Shark congregations from March through July attract many divers and Placencia & Hopkins are the best locations to arrange your dive trip.

Toledo – this southernmost district is the most remote and least developed although you can find luxury all inclusive resorts even here.  Attracting the heaviest rainfall in the entire country – the result is a lush rainforest filled with wildlife.  Attractions include Snake Caye, Nim Li Punit, Lubaantun, Blue Creek Cave, and Chocolate!  Municipal flights are the recoomended method of travel since Toldeo is 5 hours by vehicle from the International Airport.

- - - - Northern Belize & Belize City - - - -

Orange WalNew River Lagoonk – this northern district boats attractions such as Lamanai, Crooked Tree Wildlife Sanctuary, Baboon Sanctuary and Altun Ha.  Remote resorts are available to choose from in several areas.  Birders and wildlife enthusiasts will enjoy these locations.

Belize City –  the City can actually serve as a great center location for day trips to both inland and the cayes.  Those on business or who require an overnight in Belize City can enjoy a unique experience in this cultural and commercial hub.
